How Many Keywords To Use
As with much of internet marketing "advice", there's a lot of misinformation out there about how many keywords to use in an article to get top listing.
I only ever give advice based on my own experience. So not only will I show you the proof this works, I'll also give you definitive guidance on what to do.
Here's an example of an article I have on page one of Google's organic search engine results. This article was written in February 2008... was on Google's page one within 24 hours - and has hardly moved since.

You'll see the paid for ads by people who aren't members of the Unfair Advantage Club on the top and down the left.
Little do they realize they would get a much better conversion rate if they were where I am - in the "organic" search listings. This has been tested by my good friend Kevin Bidwell and he reports conversions from articles convert about three times better than from paid advertising.
The reason isn't too hard to figure, because an article gives you a golden opportunity to "pre-sell" yourself and your knowledge. Add to that the fact that 72% of searchers click on the organic searches, versus only 24% clicking on AdWords and you can see why I do this.
You'll also see I have a couple of videos in slot #4. That's another story, but it is a good example of Google's "Universal Search", which was announced in the middle of 2007 and is now gaining ground.
Universal Search combines videos and other media into Google's main search results and is an ideal opportunity for you to zoom straight onto the first page.
So it's a good reason why you should add video to your unfair advantage armory. Think of videos as 21st century article marketing. Not that written articles are any the less for that, as you can see. It's just that videos give you another medium - and another chance to dominate the first page of Google. For some keywords, I have seven or eight slots of the first page of Google, using this simple technique of multiple mediums.
Anyway, back to my article...
Here is a screenshot of the actual article, taken from its page on Ezine Articles.

As you can see, it concentrates on just a single keyword phrase "Home remedies for dissolving kidney stones" So this is how many keywords to use - four!
So I've used that as the title.
I've also placed the exact same phrase just three times in the text. Where you put the phrase is more important than the number of times it appears. So always put the phrase in:
* the first paragraph. * around the middle of the article. * in the last paragraph.
So - with the title - that makes a total of just four times. Ample to immediately get your article on the first page of Google (it's important to use Ezine Articles to achieve this - no other article bank is held in such high regard by Google).
The big advantage for you, now you know how many keywords to use is, you'll no longer have to do extruciating gramatical acrobats to work the phrase into the text upteen times.
