RSS Feeds For Website
Blogs are so very popular with internet marketers, because they have a distinct advantage in the scramble for search engine attention. This is largely due to their built-in RSS feeds, which can alert the search engines the minute new material is posted.
And there's nothing search engines love more than fresh content, which greatly helps the blogs. But now blogs no longer enjoy this unfair advantage alone, because it's now so simple to add an RSS feed to your web site.
This has the advantage of combining the search engine and traffic magnetizing properties of RSS feeds with the greater flexibility of web sites. Chances are, your web site is where you conduct the real business of making money and have your sales pages, so now you can have it all under one roof.
This means you can focus your traffic generation efforts onto a single point, rather than the scatter gun approach of blog and web site.
And - if you want the other feature that made blogs so popular - interactivity - then it's a simple matter to add a forum to your web site.
And, once you have your own RSS feed on your website, you can place your RSS feeds on your Squidoo lenses and other places to draw traffic to your site. So your entire operation becomes leaner and meaner.
Here's a screenshot of my RSS feed on the home page of this site. And it's a simple matter of adding a few pages of script and two images to your web site to get it rolling.

Once you are set, you'll have a control panel which you log into when you want to create your feed. Here you can select which pages you want to appear on your feed.

Then press "Submit" and your RSS feed and XML site map will be created in a few seconds. XML stands for Extensible Markup Language and is the language serach engines look for first when crawling your site.
Then - once you've created your feed and site map.
Go to one of the many "pinging services". I use Pingomatic, which is a free service - and you don't even need to give your details.

Complete the form, as you see I have here. Select the sites you want to ping (all of them!) and press the "Send Pings" button.
You'll immediately get confirmation they have all been pinged - and you're done.
Next time you add some more content, simply log into your control panel again and create a new feed and site map, including the fresh material.
Then simply ping again to set the search engines hurrying round to your place.
And let's not forget that your customers will appreciate being able to take a feed from your site and check out your latest content with a single click.
Encourage them to also put your feed on their web sites (and even their blogs!).
Here's the site where you can get this. I've used this on several of my sites for about a year and the results are very good.

And... if you ever have a problem with your RSS feed not working, here's a site that will tell you exactly which page of your web site is causing the problem. Then you can either fix it or stop the feed from that page.
Here's the link: http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi Simply type in the URL of your site and it will give you a complete report and highlight where the problem is.
